Every story deserves to be
handmade
That's the belief I inherited.
In 1952, my grandparents made little figurines for their parents — gifts, not a business. Those figurines became the Simpich Character Dolls, and for seventy years, through a workshop of a hundred artisans, one thing never changed: every doll was handmade, with love, attention to detail, and uncompromising creativity.
I carry that same ethos into everything I do.
How does this handmade belief show up in my work?
Video.
This is where it all comes together for me — music, writing, storytelling, cameras, tech. All combine around the subject, whether it’s a ski resort at the heart of the Rockies, or a metal smithing school in the middle of Colorado Springs. It’s the story that will connect with people, and there’s no more powerful medium than video to communicate these stories.
Facts listed off rarely move anyone. A well-told story always does.
The Simpich Character Dolls.
I still maintain Simpich.com and the secondary market for these handmade creations. It's my family's legacy, and it's the standard I hold the rest of my work to. With over a decade of experience, upholding this legacy has really become a part of my own story.
